La Milanaise

organic flour & grain mix
Richelieu, Quebec

Robert and Lily Beauchemin set up operations on a 400-acre farm in Milan, Quebec. It’s a mixed farming business producing grains and lambs. From the beginning, the company focuses on an “organic” approach, with no fertilizers or pesticides (although there was no official definition of this term at the time). Against the recommendations of agricultural professionals, they started the production of food-quality wheat.

Today, at La Milanaise, we have developed a value-chain approach to our work. This method helps us to remember the importance of every participant in the process. Because we’re looking for partners at every step in the chain, it is essential that we understand their daily reality and the issues they face, and that we work together to offer the best possible products. Without a doubt, our most important commitment at La Milanaise is to advance and expand organic farming techniques. Since the very beginning, the founders have made it their mission to practice a natural and eco-friendly approach to agriculture.

Our specialized team has been working for a number of years to develop a program to reduce and predict risks in organic agriculture. This program was created in collaboration with Les Moulins de Soulanges (Agriculture Raisonnée™), and allows us to assist a large number of producers in their transition to organic agriculture.
